Sandals Grande St. Lucian – Sandals’ Best Beach on St. Lucia

We took a day trip over to the Grande St. Lucian from La Toc.  As part of your vacation at a Sandals in St. Lucia, you can stay and play at all three resorts on the island.  There is a shuttle that runs about every 2 hours on the even hour from La Toc to Halcyon and the Grande.  It runs from 10a – 11p and you can take a taxi as well, if you’d like a different schedule.  From La Toc, it takes about 40 minutes to get over to the Grande and is a scenic drive through Castries and up to Rodney Bay.

Whereas La Toc is more lush and hilly, the Grande is more flat and has more of a beach stomosphere.  Like many of the Sandals Resorts there is a more active pool and a few more quiet pools. Your needs may vary throughout your vacation or you may want to be around one type of pool all of the time, so work with us to plan your room accommodations accordingly.

The beach at the Grande is a nice beach.  I will be honest that I am spoiled and I have been on nicer, but the general consensus was that it was a great beach.  It was a little shelly on the walk in to the water, a nice length and depth.  The water is clear and beautiful and I didn’t have any problems with rocks in the water.  You will have to watch closer to the pier as there are sea urchins, so look before you step!

The lobby is in the middle of the resort and the rooms flank out in several buildings on either side.  So, if you are looking for a resort that has amenities that are easy to get to, this is one of them.  The restaurants are all equally spaced throughout the resort as well and some are even in the lobby area – easy for everyone!   Like the other Sandals in St. Lucia, you also have the choice of visiting other restaurants at other resorts.

We saw a number of room categories here, as this resort does feature Sandals-famed swim up suites and rondovals.  The swim up suites are all connected to a lagoon sized pool and each room has a small terrace and then steps directly in to the pool.  At this resort, the terraces are fairly private from your neighbor with a floor to ceiling wall and vegetation.  The Rondoval rooms at this resort have become so popular that they have added another phase on the more active side of the resort.  The Rondovals are rooms on the round and have a private plunge pool, whirlpool, and outdoor shower. On the interior, there is a beautiful sitting area, as well as a large shower and pedestal tub in the bath.  They are truly unique.   The majority of these rooms are garden view, but they do offer 3 rooms that are beachfront.
